Trenton Battery Energy Storage
Project Overview
The Trenton Battery Project is an energy storage facility of 150 MW of battery storage in the Town of Trenton, NS. The Project is being developed by NRStor Trenton Energy Storage GP Inc., which is owned by NRStor, WMA, and Aecon Concessions, through the jointly owned project organization. The project will provide clean, reliable power capacity by drawing and storing renewable energy during off-peak periods and releasing it to the grid when energy demand is at its peak. The project will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 1.8 million tonnes over its first 10 of the 20 years of the project life—equivalent to removing 40,000 cars from the road annually.

Project Updates
Fall, 2025
Since the February 2025 Open House, NRStor has received positive reception from community members and has secured a Municipal Support Resolution by the Town of Trenton.
The Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq (CMM) has been contracted to conduct a Mi’kmaq Ecological Knowledge Study for the project. Other site studies such as environmental, geotechnical, archaeological assessments are well underway at the project site.
Spring, 2025
On February 26, 2025, NRStor held a community Open House in Pictou County, NS for community members from Trenton, Pictou Landing First Nation, and surrounding communities to participate. Throughout the entire development of the project, the partners will be hosting multiple engagement sessions to ensure overall public support of the project.
