Nova Scotia Power Inc., or NSPI, is Nova Scotia’s primary electric utility and a subsidiary of Emera Inc. The company is active across the electricity supply chain, including generation, transmission, distribution, grid infrastructure, customer service, and reliability.

NSPI provides electricity service to residential, commercial, and industrial customers across Nova Scotia. Its system includes generating facilities, transmission and distribution lines, substations, and other infrastructure needed to deliver electricity throughout the province. The utility is also involved in Nova Scotia’s transition toward cleaner electricity, including renewable energy integration, grid reliability, and energy storage.

From the WMA’s perspective, Nova Scotia Power is a key utility relationship because many major clean energy opportunities depend on grid infrastructure, reliability, storage, and transmission. This relationship supports the WMA’s participation in projects that strengthen the electricity system while creating long-term Mi’kmaw economic benefit.

White Rock, Bridgewater, and Waverley, Nova Scotia
A three-site battery storage project in White Rock, Bridgewater, and Waverley, developed by Nova Scotia Power with WMA and CIB support to improve grid reliability, store renewable energy, and create Indigenous equity participation in clean energy infrastructure.
