WMA Projects

WMA’s projects and initiatives reflect our role in advancing major economic opportunities that create long-term value for Mi’kmaw communities. While much of our current work is focused in clean energy, transmission, battery storage, and infrastructure, each opportunity is assessed through the lens of Mi’kmaw priorities, long-term benefit, partnership fit, and organizational capacity.

Hants County / West Hants, Nova Scotia
A Mi’kmaw majority-owned wind energy project in Hants County, developed by WMA and Natural Forces to generate renewable electricity, reduce emissions, and expand Indigenous participation in Nova Scotia’s clean energy future. 
Nova Scotia / Mi’kma’ki
Black Diamond Mi’kmaq is a majority-owned First Nations business partnership between WMA and Black Diamond Group, focused on modular buildings, workforce accommodation, and major project service opportunities in Nova Scotia.
Goose Harbour Lake, Guysborough County, Nova Scotia
A 168 MW wind energy project in Guysborough County, developed by Port Hawkesbury Paper Wind with WMA equity participation to power industrial operations, support the provincial grid, reduce emissions, and create long-term economic benefits for Mi’kmaw communities.
Nova Scotia / Mi’kma’ki
Mi’kma’ki-Municipal Limited Partnership is a WMA partnership with the Municipal Group of Companies created to maximize Mi’kmaq participation in construction, infrastructure, renewable energy, workforce development, and related project opportunities.
White Rock, Bridgewater, and Waverley, Nova Scotia
A three-site battery storage project in White Rock, Bridgewater, and Waverley, developed by Nova Scotia Power with WMA and CIB support to improve grid reliability, store renewable energy, and create Indigenous equity participation in clean energy infrastructure.
Town of Trenton, Pictou County, Nova Scotia, in Piktuk, Mi’kma’ki. The project is near Pictou Landing First Nation and the Trenton Industrial Park.
A proposed 150 MW battery energy storage project in Trenton, Nova Scotia, developed by NRStor, WMA, and Aecon to support grid reliability, store renewable energy, reduce reliance on coal, and create long-term economic value for Mi’kmaw communities.
Between Onslow, Nova Scotia (NS) and Salisbury, New Brunswick (NB).
A new 345 kV transmission line connecting Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, developed to strengthen grid reliability, support renewable energy integration, and create Indigenous equity participation for Mi’kmaw and Mi’gmaq communities.
Nova Scotia / Mi’kma’ki, with service capacity connected to Atlantic Canada and International SOS Medical Services Canada’s broader Canadian operations.
WMA – International SOS Joint Venture Inc. is a majority WMA-held joint venture created to provide localized healthcare, emergency response, occupational health, and remote site medical services within Mi’kma’ki.
